“Destroyed Runways Look Like Victory?” India Mocks Shehbaz Sharif’s Claims at UNGA

Indian diplomat calls out Pakistan’s “absurd theatrics” and accuses Islamabad of glorifying terrorism at the United Nations General Assembly

India’s Strong Rebuttal to Pakistan’s UNGA Speech

At the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, India strongly condemned Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks, calling them “absurd theatrics” and accusing Pakistan of glorifying terrorism once again.

Indian diplomat Petal Gahlot, delivering India’s right of reply, said terrorism is “central to Pakistan’s foreign policy,” highlighting Pakistan’s support for terror groups and sheltering of terrorist leaders.

Sharif’s Claims and India’s Response

Shehbaz Sharif claimed that Pakistan faced “unprovoked aggression” from India earlier this year, referring to Operation Sindoor, and praised Pakistan’s armed forces for repelling the attack with “stunning professionalism, bravery and acumen.”

In response, Ms. Gahlot exposed Pakistan’s protection of The Resistance Front, a terror outfit responsible for the deadly April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. She also condemned Pakistan for harboring al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden for a decade.

“No degree of drama and no level of lies can conceal the facts,” she said, recalling Pakistan’s shielding of terrorist groups at the UN Security Council in April 2025.

“If Destroyed Runways Look Like Victory…”

India further challenged Sharif’s claims of victory, stating that evidence of damage to Pakistani military infrastructure, including destroyed runways and burnt-out hangars, contradicted the notion of a win.

“If destroyed runways and burnt-out hangars look like victory, as the Prime Minister claimed, Pakistan is welcome to enjoy it,” said Ms. Gahlot.

Pakistan’s Calls for Dialogue Met with Conditions

While Sharif called for peace and dialogue based on “mutual respect and cooperation,” India made its stance clear. Ms. Gahlot said:

“If he is indeed sincere, the pathway is clear. Pakistan must immediately shut down all terrorist camps and hand over to us the terrorists wanted in India.”

India emphasized that there will be no tolerance for terrorism and no distinction between terrorists and their sponsors.

Indus Waters Treaty and Regional Tensions

Sharif also accused India of violating the Indus Waters Treaty and called its suspension an act of war. The treaty was suspended following the Pahalgam terror attack.

India dismissed Pakistan’s threats and reiterated that bilateral dialogue is the only path forward.

India Rejects Third-Party Involvement Claims

Addressing Sharif’s praise for former US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire efforts, India denied any external mediation, stressing that all issues with Pakistan would be handled bilaterally with “no room for any third party.”

India’s Firm Stand Against Terrorism and Nuclear Blackmail

Ms. Gahlot concluded with a strong message that India will never bow to terrorism or nuclear threats, demanding global zero tolerance for terrorism.

“India’s message to the world is clear; there must be zero tolerance for terrorism,” she said.
