Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma, confirmed the flash flood in Chositi and assured that rescue operations are underway.
“A flash flood has occurred at Chashoti area in Kishtwar, which is the starting point of the Machail Mata Yatra. Rescue operations have been started,” he said.
Union Minister Reacts to Disaster
Union Minister Jitendra Singh said he was alerted by Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma and had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner.
He posted online:
- “Massive cloudburst in the Chositi area, which could result in substantial casualties.”
- “Administration has immediately swung into action; rescue teams have left for the site.”
- “All possible assistance will be provided.”
Lieutenant Governor Orders Stronger Rescue Efforts
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the incident and directed Civil, Police, Army, NDRF, and SDRF to intensify rescue and relief operations.
“Anguished by the cloudburst in Chositi Kishtwar. Condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the injured,” he said.
