Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu has officially announced that Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, will be inaugurated on October 30, 2025. Commercial flight operations to major Indian cities will begin within 45 days of the launch.
Flight Services to 10 Cities Planned
Minister Naidu revealed that discussions are underway with airlines including IndiGo and Air India Express to kickstart operations. Initial routes will include:
- Bengaluru
- Mumbai
- Kolkata
- And seven other major domestic destinations
The airport’s code will be DXN, and it is expected to play a key role in boosting connectivity for Delhi NCR and western Uttar Pradesh.
Connectivity and Infrastructure
The airport will be accessible via:
- Six major roads
- A rapid rail-cum-metro link
- Proposed pod taxis for last-mile connectivity
This integrated transport system aims to make Jewar one of the most accessible airports in India.
Trial Landing and Safety Measures
A commercial aircraft successfully landed during runway trials held on December 9, showcasing the airport’s operational readiness. Ahead of the launch, authorities had also issued height regulations for builders and infrastructure projects within a 20 km radius of the airport, ensuring airspace safety and compliance.
Expansion of Hindon Airport and Other Developments
In addition to Jewar, Minister Naidu shared plans for the expansion of Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, including a request for nine additional acres to extend the parking area.
Further enhancements at Indian airports include:
- Free Wi-Fi access nationwide within two months
- Libraries for travelers to enhance passenger experience
