Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) rolls out new digital-update process and revised fees ahead of major deadlines for linking PAN and simplifying KYC.
What Changes From 1 November 2025
- From 1 November 2025, Aadhaar-holders can update key details such as name, address, date of birth or mobile number online, without visiting an enrolment centre.
- Updates will be verified digitally using linked government documents like PAN cards, passports, driving licences or ration cards.
- Revised service-charges begin:
- ₹75 for name/address/DOB/mobile updates.
- ₹125 for biometric updates (fingerprint/iris/photo).
- Free while online for selected changes until 14 June 2026; after that standard fees apply.
- The mandatory linking of Aadhaar with PAN is set for completion by 31 December 2025; PANs not linked may become inactive after 1 January 2026.
- Paperless KYC for banks and financial institutions is simplified via: Aadhaar-OTP, Video-KYC or optional in-person check.
Why It Matters
- The move significantly reduces time and hassles for citizens needing to update Aadhaar information — especially in remote locations.
- Digital verification via government-document linkage enhances accuracy and trustworthiness of data and may reduce fraud or mismatches.
- Heavy financial transactions, tax-filing, banking and welfare benefits often require an up-to-date Aadhaar — so ease of update is a major everyday improvement.
- With the PAN-linking deadline looming, many citizens will need to ensure their Aadhaar details are correct and up-to-date to avoid disruptions.
What You Should Do
- If your name, address, mobile number or date of birth is old or incorrect, log in to the myAadhaar portal from 1 Nov and update online for convenience.
- If biometrics (photo, fingerprints, iris) are outdated, plan for the update — even though it must be done at a centre.
- Check your PAN-Aadhaar link status and act before the end-year deadline to avoid invalidation of your PAN.
- Banks and financial institutions will apply paper-less KYC — be ready to use Aadhaar-OTP or video-KYC options.
