Boy Killed, 9 Injured in Bengaluru Cylinder Blast; 6 Houses Damaged

Tragedy strikes Wilson Garden as cylinder explosion kills 10-year-old, injures several; government announces aid and ongoing investigation.

A 10-year-old boy was killed and nine others were injured in a suspected cylinder blast in Chinnayanpalya, Wilson Garden, one of Bengaluru’s densely populated localities. The incident occurred around 8:30 AM on Friday, causing significant damage to at least six adjoining houses, which share walls due to the compact layout of the neighborhood.

Blast Origin Suspected in Rented House

According to Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, the blast is suspected to have been triggered by a cylinder leak, but the exact cause is still under investigation.

“It’s too early to confirm the cause. Forensics and the bomb squad are working on the scene,” said the Commissioner.

The explosion reportedly originated from a rented house occupied by a three-member family. The husband had left for work earlier in the morning, while the mother and child were inside at the time of the blast and were injured.

“We are clearing the houses that are damaged. Investigation is underway,” said Police Commissioner Singh.
