Bengaluru resident claims locals damaged her car parked in a permitted zone, sparking debate on public road entitlement
Bengaluru Doctor Shares Shocking Vandalism Incident on X
A Bengaluru-based doctor has alleged that her car was vandalised despite being parked legally on a public road. The woman took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that her vehicle’s tyre was punctured, the body scratched, and mud was smeared on the windshield.
“Tyre punctured, car scratched, a threat to damage car with a stick, and now mud spattered over the windshield… all for parking legally. Seen it all over the years,” she wrote.
Alleged Offender: “Entitled” Local Residents
In a follow-up comment, the doctor speculated that the act may have been carried out by “an elderly retired educated couple” while she was away from the location.
She added that she had to leave the area quickly and used her car’s wipers and water to clear the mud before departing safely.
Dashcam Evidence Coming?
The woman also stated that she is checking her dashcam footage in hopes of identifying the vandals and sharing video evidence on social media soon.
Social Media Reactions: Strong Support and Anger
The post quickly went viral, with social media users expressing:
- Sympathy for the doctor
- Frustration over public road misuse
- Anger at lack of enforcement
User Comments:
- “Please raise a complaint with traffic police immediately.”
- “This is disgusting. Public roads are not personal property.”
- “In Indiranagar and other areas, cones and flowerpots are used to block public parking spots. This has to stop.”
Many users also suggested installing CCTV cameras and reporting recurring offenders to the Bengaluru Traffic Police.
The Larger Issue: Public Road Misuse in Bengaluru
This incident highlights a growing problem in urban Bengaluru—the unauthorised appropriation of public roads by residents who claim space outside their homes as private parking.
From traffic cones to flower pots and barricades, such behavior has sparked public outcry over urban entitlement and weak enforcement.
