British Woman, 23, Shot Dead by Father in Texas After Argument Over Donald Trump

An inquest in England has heard that British woman Lucy Harrison was fatally shot by her father at his home in Prosper, Texas, following a heated argument about Donald Trump and gun ownership while she was visiting from the UK.

A British woman was shot and killed by her father in the United States after the pair argued over politics, including remarks about US President Donald Trump. The tragic death of 23-year-old Lucy Harrison, a fashion buyer from Warrington, Cheshire, has been described in testimony during a coroner’s inquest.

What the Inquest Heard

According to evidence heard at Cheshire Coroner’s Court:

  • Lucy had travelled to Prosper, Texas, with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to visit her father, Kris Harrison.
  • On January 10, 2025, the couple were preparing to return home to the UK when Lucy and her father got into a “big argument” about Donald Trump and US politics.
  • Lucy often became upset when her father talked about his gun ownership, the court heard.
  • During the dispute, Lucy reportedly asked her father how he would feel if she were sexually assaulted, to which he replied that, because he had other daughters, it “would not upset him that much.”

Later that day, Lucy was in the kitchen when her father took her by the hand and led her to his bedroom. About 15 seconds later, a gunshot was heard. Mr Littler ran to the room and found Lucy lying on the floor with a fatal gunshot wound to her chest.

Father’s Account and Background

In a written statement attributed to him in court documents:

  • Kris Harrison said he had shown Lucy a Glock 9mm handgun he owned, explaining he bought it for “a sense of security.”
  • He claimed he did not understand how the gun discharged and could not remember if his finger was on the trigger.
  • The court also heard that Mr Harrison had previously struggled with alcohol addiction and consumed alcohol earlier on the day of the shooting.

Legal and Investigative Proceedings

  • Local law enforcement in Texas investigated the case as a possible manslaughter, but a Collin County grand jury declined to indict Kris Harrison, meaning no criminal charges were filed in the US.
  • In the UK, an inquest into Lucy’s death is underway, during which witnesses and testimony about the incident are being examined to establish the facts around her death.

Remembering Lucy Harrison

Friends and family have described Lucy as a passionate, caring person who enjoyed lively debates and meaningful conversations. Her mother and boyfriend have spoken of her warmth, humour and zest for life in tribute statements released during the inquest.

Ongoing Inquest

The inquest hearing continues as the court examines evidence about why the shooting occurred and how it unfolded. Authorities in both the UK and the US continue to follow procedural steps in documenting the incident and its circumstances.
