India’s prominent cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX has suffered a cyberattack, resulting in the theft of nearly ₹380 crore from one of its internal operational accounts. However, no customer funds or wallets were affected, according to the company’s top executives.

🧑💼 CoinDCX CEO: “Customer Assets Are Completely Safe”
CoinDCX CEO Sumit Gupta addressed the incident in a public statement on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the platform’s commitment to transparency and user safety.
“One of our internal operational accounts — used solely for liquidity provisioning on a partner exchange — was compromised due to a sophisticated server breach,” Gupta explained.
“The wallets storing customer assets were not impacted and remain completely secure.”
💬 Co-Founder Also Reassures Customers
Neeraj Khandelwal, Co-founder of CoinDCX, also confirmed via X that all customer assets are safe, and platform services including crypto withdrawals and INR transactions continue to operate normally.
He added that while the breach is significant, its scale is contained and being absorbed by the company from its treasury reserves.

Following the incident, CoinDCX:
- Isolated the affected account to prevent further damage
- Engaged cybersecurity experts and forensic agencies to investigate
- Began tracing the movement of stolen funds
- Is working with its partner exchange to recover assets
The company is also set to launch a bug bounty program to enhance security and prevent future threats.
