Massive Security Deployment and Tech Upgrades to Ensure Safe Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations Across Mumbai
As Mumbai prepares to welcome Lord Ganesha on August 27, 2025, the city is tightening its security like never before. To ensure a smooth and safe Ganeshotsav 2025, the Mumbai Police has deployed over 17,000 police personnel, integrated AI-powered surveillance, and introduced drone monitoring across key locations in the city.

Mumbai Police Strengthens Ganeshotsav Security with Tech & Manpower
To handle the massive crowds and processions expected during the 10-day Ganesh festival, the Mumbai Police has rolled out a comprehensive citywide security plan.
Key Highlights of the Security Plan:
- 17,154 total police personnel deployed citywide:
- 14,430 constables
- 2,637 police officers
- 51 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs)
- 36 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs)
- 11,000+ CCTV cameras installed across major pandals and routes
- Drone surveillance to monitor crowd movement at high-footfall areas
- AI-based monitoring systems to detect suspicious activity and unattended objects
- Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and mobile command units on standby
- Special Branch officers positioned at sensitive locations
Joint Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary confirmed that these measures will be in place from Ganpati idol installation day till immersion day.
Additional Forces Deployed for Public Safety
Beyond the Mumbai Police, the following forces will also assist during the festivities:
- 12 companies of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF)
- Rapid Action Force (RAF)
- Riot control squads and Delta combat units
- Home Guards and trained volunteers from various social organisations
Their presence will help manage the massive crowds during key procession days and maintain peace during night hours.

- Avoid carrying large bags in crowded areas
