Gangs of Bihar: Armed Men Gun Down Parolee Inside Patna Hospital

Five attackers walk into hospital room and shoot criminal Chandan Mishra dead, raising fresh concerns over Bihar’s law and order crisis

Hospital Horror: A Cold-Blooded Killing in Broad Daylight

In a chilling incident straight out of a crime thriller, five armed men casually walked into a private hospital in Patna, entered a patient’s cabin, shot him multiple times, and fled the scene — all captured on CCTV.

The victim, Chandan Mishra, a notorious gangster with multiple murder charges, was out on parole for medical treatment when the attack occurred. Despite emergency care, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Caught on Camera: Attackers Move with Chilling Ease

Footage from hospital security cameras shows the five assailants:

  • Walking calmly into Paras Hospital
  • Entering the patient cabin with guns drawn
  • Executing the shooting and escaping within minutes

A Targeted Hit: Rival Gang Suspected

Police believe the attack was the result of a gang rivalry. Mishra, a resident of Buxar district, had been moved from Bhagalpur jail to Patna’s Paras Hospital on medical parole.

“Chandan Mishra, involved in several murder cases, was likely killed by a rival gang, possibly the Chandan Sheru gang,”
said Kartikay Sharma, SSP Patna.

Police are investigating whether hospital security personnel may have aided the attackers.

Law and Order Breakdown: Pattern of Violence Emerges

The hospital shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents rocking Bihar’s capital. Recent victims include:

  • Businessman Gopal Khemka
  • BJP leader Surendra Kewat
  • Lawyer Jitendra Mahato

The surge in killings has intensified scrutiny of the Nitish Kumar-led JDU-BJP government, just months ahead of state elections.

Political Backlash: Opposition Questions Government

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed the government, saying:

“Government-backed criminals stormed the ICU and shot a patient. Is anyone safe anywhere in Bihar? Has this happened before 2005?”

The Opposition has seized the opportunity to corner the ruling coalition over what they call a “complete collapse of law and order.”

Government Reaction: Promises of Action

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha condemned the attack and promised swift action:

“Such an incident is unfortunate. It will be thoroughly investigated. The Chief Minister has assured that the criminals will be caught and strictly punished.”
