Himesh Reshammiya Trolls Himself, Asks Fans “Regular Gau Yaa Naak Se?” During Concert

Singer confronts criticism of his nasal singing style with humour and confidence on stage

At a recent stop on his CapMania concert tour, Himesh Reshammiya playfully addressed long-standing online trolling about his nasal vocal tone. On stage in Mumbai, he paused mid-performance and asked the audience, “Thoda regular gaaun ya naak se gaaun?” (“Should I sing normally or from my nose?”).

When the crowd cheered for him to sing nasally, he smiled and confirmed: “Are you sure?” before launching into lines from his hit song Aashiq Banaya Aapne in his signature style.

He didn’t stop there. Himesh has previously defended his unique voice, saying:

“It was never nasal for me — it was high-pitched singing … a cry for help.”
He also noted that many later singers adopted a similar “nasal” style, reaffirming his influence on Bollywood’s music trends.

Why The Internet Is Talking About It

  • Self-Awareness Over Criticism: By directly calling out the jokes, Himesh turns trolling into a moment of connection with his audience.
  • Legacy in Focus: His remarks highlight his role in popularising the nasal singing style — reframing what was once criticized as a weakness into a signature strength.
  • Engagement Strategy: This is not just humour — it’s a smart move. Fans love the interaction and authenticity, making the concert more than just a performance.
