Opening Show: Rahul Mishra Returns Home
The event will open with a spectacular showcase by Rahul Mishra, in collaboration with Hyundai India Couture Week and Reliance Brands, an initiative by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
Fresh off the Paris runway, where he presented his collection “Becoming Love”—inspired by the seven stages of love and the works of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt—Mishra brings a deeply personal touch to this year’s opening.
Speaking about the collection, Rahul Mishra said in a press statement:
“Every time we showcase in India, it fills us with immense pride to present our work on home soil, where the roots of our craft run deepest. Opening Hyundai India Couture Week 2025 with FDCI is an honour, and this collection feels especially personal. It explores the idea of love not just as a feeling, but as a transformation and a journey of becoming.”
Grand Finale by JJ Valaya
The finale of India Couture Week 2025 will be presented by celebrated designer JJ Valaya, known for seamlessly blending traditional Indian elements with modern design.
Valaya revealed that his closing collection, titled “East”, is inspired by various cultures of the Eastern Hemisphere.
He stated:
“I believe that when we work for eight months to put together a 25-minute presentation, it all comes together beautifully in that experience. While I can say the inspiration is Eastern, I prefer letting the collection speak for itself.”
A Fitting End to a Celebratory Week
Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, expressed his excitement about JJ Valaya concluding the event:
“JJ Valaya has been a visionary in the world of Indian couture, and we are honoured to have him close Hyundai India Couture Week 2025. His deep-rooted legacy, exquisite detailing, and timeless designs make him the perfect designer to conclude this landmark edition.”
The 18th edition of India Couture Week promises to celebrate the finest of Indian craftsmanship, design innovation, and creative storytelling.
