Overview of the 2025 Henley Passport Index
The Henley Passport Index 2025 ranks global passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. Compiled using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the index evaluates 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.
In the latest rankings, India has fallen to 85th place, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 57 countries, a decrease from 62 countries in 2024. This marks a decline from India’s peak position of 71st in 2006.
Top-Ranking Passports
The 2025 index highlights the following top passports:
- Singapore: Retains the top spot with visa-free access to 193 countries.
- South Korea: Holds second place with access to 190 countries.
- Japan: Ranks third, offering visa-free entry to 189 countries.
