In a landmark achievement, Indore has been named India’s cleanest city for the eighth consecutive year, reaffirming its status as a national role model in urban cleanliness. The announcement was made during a prestigious event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu presented the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 Awards.

Organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under the Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban (SBM-U), this survey is the world’s largest cleanliness assessment, evaluating urban areas on waste management, sanitation infrastructure, and citizen engagement.

Noida emerged as the cleanest city in the 3–10 lakh population bracket, thanks to improved waste processing systems, citizen-driven initiatives, and infrastructural upgrades.

President Murmu commended all the winning cities for “their dedication to building a clean and sustainable urban India.” Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed pride in Indore’s achievement, noting,

“This recognition reflects both past performance and future potential. Indore has truly earned its place at the top.”
