International Men’s Day was founded in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a lecturer from Trinidad & Tobago.
Why November 19?
- It is the birthday of Dr. Teelucksingh’s father, whom he regarded as a strong role model.
- The date also commemorates the unity displayed by Trinidad & Tobago’s men’s football team on the same day in 1989.
