Janhvi Kapoor Brings Desi Glam to Toronto International Film Festival in Golden Prada Sari Dress and Kolhapuri Chappals

Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Janhvi fused Indian tradition with high fashion at TIFF in a stunning Prada sari-inspired dress and Aprajita Toor sandals.

Fashion Debut at TIFF

At the Toronto International Film Festival, Janhvi Kapoor impressed audiences with her sublime fashion sense. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, she wore a golden ensemble from Prada’s Spring 2004 collection—a strapless silk dress inspired by the elegance of a sari, complete with rich embroidery and a matching coat that balanced tradition and structure.

Her footwear—a pair of golden sandals by Aprajita Toor—modernised the iconic Kolhapuri chappal, adding an artisanal touch to her outfit.

Ethereal Chiffon Sari Moment

Janhvi also turned heads in a delicate chiffon sari, adorned with graceful floral embroidery in warm-toned silk threads. The outfit included a hand-embroidered, backless blouse that added a contemporary twist. To elevate the traditional look, she layered it with a vintage men’s jamawar jacket from the 1980s, giving her ensemble depth and a nod to cultural heritage.

Fashion Legacy & Cultural Fusion

Prada’s 2004 collection celebrated the essence of sari craftsmanship without replicating its draping. It featured luxurious Indian-inspired textiles and ornate designs blended seamlessly with Western fashion—making Janhvi’s choice both elegant and symbolic.

By incorporating the chiffon sari and layered vintage jamawar, she paid tribute to timeless Indian artistry while bringing global sophistication to the red carpet.
