Long-time fans of WWE will remember Cena often wearing hats during appearances. While the accessory appeared to be a part of his style, Cena admitted it was to hide his thinning hair.
“As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light,” Cena said.
“They had signs that said ‘The Bald John Cena’ — that pushed me to explore my options.”
John Cena’s Haircare Routine After Transplant
Since undergoing the procedure, Cena has embraced a detailed haircare routine, which he says has made all the difference.
His routine includes:
- Red-light therapy
- Minoxidil (a topical treatment for hair growth)
- Daily vitamins
- Specialized shampoo and conditioner
- Hair transplant surgery (performed in November 2023)
“There’s No Shame in Hair Transplants”
Cena emphasized how social stigma around hair loss prevented him from acting sooner.
“I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago,” he said.
“Seven or eight out of 10 men go through this. I thought I was alone.”
He added that the transplant technique is simple and effective:
“They just move your hair from one part of your scalp to another — strand by strand.”
