"Kangana Sparks 'Udta Punjab 2.0' Controversy: Blames Punjab for Himachal's Drug Crisis"

Actor-MP Kangana Ranaut backs Himachal Governor’s warning on drug menace, says Pakistan-pushed narcotics enter via Punjab. AAP hits back.

📰 Kangana’s Explosive Statement Ignites Political Firestorm

Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has stirred fresh controversy by linking Punjab to the rising drug crisis in Himachal Pradesh, claiming that narcotics are entering her home state through Punjab via Pakistan. Her comments echoed Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s recent warning that the state is on the verge of becoming the next “Udta Punjab.”

🔥 Kangana Says “Himachal Youth Turning to Crime”

Speaking to the media outside Parliament during the Monsoon Session, Kangana made a bold claim:

“Drugs coming to Himachal Pradesh from Pakistan via Punjab is affecting youth and families. The situation is so dire that if we don’t act now, Himachal will become like some Punjab villages—with only women and windows left.”

She alleged that addiction is pushing young Himachalis into theft and desperation. “Our children are simple, but now they are selling jewellery, stealing cars, and even destroying furniture at home under the influence,” she added.

🧠 Himachal Governor’s ‘Udta Punjab’ Alarm

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla had earlier warned that Himachal may mirror Punjab’s infamous drug crisis if the trend continues unchecked. He revealed:

  • NDPS cases in Himachal have surged 340% — from 500 in 2012 to over 2,200 in 2023.
  • Only one rehab center exists in Kullu, run by Red Cross.
  • Promised centers in Sirmaur remain stalled due to “lack of urgency.”

“This is not just a campaign—this is a mission to save our youth,” said the Governor.

⚔️ AAP Hits Back: “Kangana Speaks Without Proof”

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema hit back sharply, accusing Ranaut of irresponsibility and baseless targeting of Punjab.

“She should do a survey in BJP-ruled states like UP, Gujarat, and even her own Himachal before making such absurd claims.”

He slammed her for remaining silent on drug problems in non-Punjab BJP states, calling it a politically motivated distraction.
