Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma has once again become the target of a violent attack. At least 25 shots were fired at his Kaps Cafe in Surrey, Canada — marking the second such incident in just one month.
According to police, two criminal gangs — led by Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon and notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi — claimed responsibility for the shooting on social media.
Video of the Attack Emerges
A purported video from the scene captured the sound of gunfire, accompanied by a threatening voice:
“We had called the target, but he didn’t hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.”
Police Investigation and Possible Security for Kapil Sharma
Sources in the Crime Branch are investigating whether the attackers conducted surveillance near Kapil Sharma’s residence or shooting sets. Authorities are considering providing him police protection.
Why Gangsters Are Targeting Kapil Sharma
Investigators believe one major reason is Kapil Sharma’s close friendship with actor Salman Khan, who has long been targeted by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Bishnoi’s hostility toward Khan stems from the 1998 blackbuck hunting case during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Jodhpur. The Bishnoi community reveres the blackbuck as sacred, and Khan has faced multiple threats over the years.
Last year, Khan survived a firing incident outside his Bandra residence, after which his security was upgraded to Y+ category protection.
Gangsters Named in the Case
One social media post claiming responsibility for the cafe attack mentioned Shubham Lonkar, accused in the murder of former minister Baba Siddique — another close associate of Salman Khan.
Police suspect that the gangsters are also motivated by Kapil Sharma’s immense popularity and may be trying to create an atmosphere of fear in Bollywood.
Details of Both Attacks
- First attack: Occurred on July 10, when some cafe employees were still inside. At least 10 bullet holes were found in the window.
- Second attack: Happened on Thursday, with 25 rounds fired at the building.
Following the first incident, the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) — a group listed as a terrorist organisation by the Canadian government — claimed responsibility. They alleged that remarks made at one of Kapil’s shows offended the Nihang Sikh community.
BKI member Laddi, who is on India’s NIA most-wanted list, is also linked to the threats.
Cafe’s Response
Kaps Cafe issued a statement vowing to stand “firm against violence” and to remain a symbol of warmth and community for its customers.
Key Points
- Two attacks in one month on Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Surrey, Canada.
- Lawrence Bishnoi and BKI gangs linked to the incidents.
- Possible connection to Salman Khan due to old feud.
- Police considering security upgrade for Kapil Sharma.
- Attackers may be trying to spread fear in Bollywood.
The repeated attacks on Kapil Sharma’s cafe highlight the growing reach of gang violence beyond India’s borders, touching even the global entertainment industry. As investigations continue, both fans and Bollywood insiders will be watching closely to see whether stronger security measures — and justice — follow.
