What Happened?
A tragic stampede broke out on Tuesday (August 6) at Kubreshwar Dham in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, during a religious gathering for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra led by renowned storyteller Pandit Pradeep Mishra.

Why the Crowd Had Gathered
- On August 6, devotees had gathered in large numbers for the Kanwar Yatra procession, which was set to begin from the Sevna River Ghat to Kubreshwar Dham.
- The religious event was organized under the guidance of Pandit Pradeep Mishra, whose events attract lakhs of devotees.
- Due to the massive influx, traffic jams were reported on the Indore–Bhopal Highway, with nearby hotels and lodges running full.
Stampede Triggered by Overcrowding and Heat
- Preliminary reports suggest the extreme humidity, heat, and a lack of crowd control led to panic among the devotees.
- The situation spiraled into chaos, resulting in a stampede inside the temple complex.
- The two deceased women were rushed to Sehore District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

- A similar tragedy occurred on February 16, 2023, during a Rudraksha distribution at Kubreshwar Dham.
- A 53-year-old woman from Nashik, Maharashtra, died, and four people went missing.
- A 3-year-old boy also died the next day.
- The administration was forced to halt the Rudraksha Mahotsav due to uncontrollable crowds.
