Rita Bhattacharya reacts to Kunickaa Sadanand’s Bigg Boss revelation about her past relationship with Kumar Sanu
Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya has broken her silence on the singer’s widely discussed affair with actress Kunickaa Sadanand, following the actress’s emotional confession on Bigg Boss 19.
Kunickaa, who is currently a contestant on the reality show, recently revealed that she was in a 27-year-old secret live-in relationship with a married man — later identified as legendary playback singer Kumar Sanu. She shared that the singer left her for someone else, and said she had kept her grief hidden all these years.
Rita Bhattacharya Responds: “I Was Pregnant at the Time”
In a candid reaction, Rita Bhattacharya expressed disbelief at Kunickaa’s statements, especially given the timeline.
“When she (Kunickaa) spoke about Sanuji having an affair with someone else, she was also doing the same. When Sanu Ji was staying with her, he was married to me — and I was pregnant with my son,” she told the media.
Rita questioned the actress’s narrative of “suppressing grief for 27 years,” pointing out that Kunickaa has a 26-year-old son.
“She says she was grieving for 27 years, but she has a 26-year-old son. How? When you have a child that age, where is this 27-year-long grief coming from?” Rita asked.
She continued:
“You can marry a 70-year-old and have a 26-year-old child? Not in my country.”

She even compared their relationship to the mythological Shakuntala and Dushyant, adding that things she later discovered about Sanu broke her heart, eventually leading to the end of their relationship.
