The Prince of Holkar: Mahanaryaman Scindia Set to Lead Madhya Pradesh Cricket

At just 29, Scindia scion Mahanaryaman is poised to become the youngest-ever president of MPCA in its 68-year history.

A Quiet but Historic Coronation at Holkar Stadium

On the iconic grounds of Holkar Stadium in Indore—once a battleground for cricket and political influence—a new chapter is being written. Mahanaryaman Scindia, at just 29 years old, is all set to become the youngest president in the 68-year history of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA).

The legacy he steps into is weighty. His father, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and grandfather, Madhavrao Scindia, both held the same prestigious position, with their tenures marked by high-voltage contests and political undertones.

A Legacy Spanning Three Generations

  • Madhavrao Scindia assumed the MPCA presidency at 37.
  • Jyotiraditya Scindia took over at 35 in 2004 after a fierce electoral battle.
  • Now, Mahanaryaman Scindia enters at 29—unopposed.

This generational transition underscores not just a family tradition, but also an evolution in leadership styles, with each Scindia entering earlier and bringing new perspectives to the table.

No Contest, No Noise — Just a Smooth Transition

Unlike the turbulent elections of 2010 and 2012, which saw public confrontations and intense rivalries, Mahanaryaman’s ascent is calm and uncontested. The nomination deadline passed on August 30 without any challengers. With no rival candidates, his presidency will be formalized on September 2.

This quiet transition speaks volumes about both the respect he commands and the strategic unity within the association.

Building His Own Identity in Cricket Administration

Mahanaryaman is not just stepping in as a dynastic heir. Over the last two years, he has actively engaged with cricket administration:

  • Served as Vice President of Gwalior Cricket Division
  • Launched the Madhya Pradesh Premier League Scindia Cup, a franchise-format tournament modeled after the IPL
  • Championed transparency and youth-focused initiatives in state cricket

Described as approachable, modern, and energetic, he brings a fresh vision to MPCA’s future.

A New Team, New Energy

His incoming team includes:

  • Sudhir Asnani – Secretary
  • Sandhya Agarwal – Former India cricketer
  • Arundhati Kirkire – Former India cricketer

Former committee member Rajiv Singh Chauhan praised the team formation:

“Thanks to Jyotiraditya Scindia for keeping this team united. No one else filed nominations for key posts. That speaks volumes.”

Sanjeev Dua, another MPCA member, added:

“After six years, a young team is stepping in. It will take Madhya Pradesh cricket forward.”

The Scindia Saga Continues

On September 1, as father and son arrive at Holkar Stadium, the moment won’t be about loud slogans or bitter campaigns. Instead, it will be marked by symbolism — the passing of the baton to a younger generation.

With Mahanaryaman Scindia at the helm, MPCA is not only getting a new president but also stepping into a new era of leadership, marked by youth, experience, and the enduring legacy of the House of Scindia.
