Why the Yellow Line Is a Game-Changer for Bengaluru

Bengaluru’s long-awaited Namma Metro Yellow Line is now open, linking RV Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the east. This 19.15-km corridor with 16 elevated stations is expected to benefit up to 8 lakh commuters daily.

The ₹7,160 crore project connects residential areas directly with major employment hubs like Electronic City, Silk Board, BTM Layout, and Bommasandra Industrial Area, helping cut notorious traffic jams and saving significant travel time.

Key Benefits for Commuters

  • Faster travel times – Peak-hour journeys to Electronic City reduced from 1.5–2 hours by road to around 45 minutes.
  • Better tech hub connectivity – Direct metro access to offices of Infosys, Biocon, TCS, and other companies.
  • Reduced congestion – Major relief at Silk Board Junction and other traffic-heavy areas.
  • Eco-friendly commuting – Encourages a shift from private vehicles to public transport

Metro Timings and Frequency

  • Operations run from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.
  • Initial frequency: Every 25 minutes.
  • Expected to improve to every 20 minutes as more trains are deployed
