In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian forces launched Operation Mahadev to eliminate Suleiman Shah alias Hashim Musa, the alleged mastermind and a high-value Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist. Shah was also a former Pakistani Army SSG commando.

According to reports, the operation was carried out in Dachigam forests near Srinagar, after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

  • Intelligence units had been tracking the group for several days.

  • By 9:30 AM, Rashtriya Rifles and Para SF Commandos began moving into position.

  • Commandos ascended Mahadev Hill and spotted the terrorists within 30 minutes.

  • 11:00 AM: All three terrorists were hit in the first exchange.
  • 11:45 AM: One wounded terrorist tried to escape but was neutralized.
  • 12:30 PM: A combing operation was launched in a 2 km radius.

🔍 Seized from the Hideout:

  • Multiple AK-47s, Carbine rifles, 17 rifle grenades, and other weapons.
  • A deep-forest hideout photo accessed by NDTV showed advanced weaponry and provisions.
  • Forces suspect the group was planning a major terror strike in Kashmir.

⚔️ Flashback: Operation Sindoor – India’s Retaliation

After the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6-7, targeting terror bases in Pakistan and PoK.

🎯 Objective:

To dismantle critical infrastructure used by:

  • LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba)
  • JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammed)
  • Hizbul Mujahideen
