Asaduddin Owaisi Says Only 1 Survived in Saudi Bus Crash That Killed 42 Hyderabad Pilgrims

MP urges Indian government to repatriate bodies, says he’s in touch with embassy after Mecca-Medina bus tanker collision

Hyderabad / New Delhi: Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed deep grief over a tragic bus-tanker collision in Saudi Arabia that reportedly killed 42 Indian pilgrims. The accident happened near Mufrihat, en route from Mecca to Medina, according to top news sources.

Owaisi claimed that only one person survived, although the details are still being verified. He said he has spoken to Abu Mathen George, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, who assured him that the embassy is collecting full information.

He also called on the central government and EAM S. Jaishankar to ensure proper medical treatment for any injured and to repatriate the bodies of those who died.

The Telangana government has activated a control room for the families of the pilgrims.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed his condolences and said that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah were providing full support to those affected.
