Rekha Allegedly Turned Vegetarian for Amitabh Bachchan
In an interview with Hindi Rush, Pooja revealed that Rekha reportedly turned vegetarian to impress Amitabh Bachchan, even though he was already married to Jaya.
“A level of infatuation must have developed between the two, but I don’t think it was love, because he was already married,” said Samant.
The Infamous Wedding Appearance With Sindoor
One of the most discussed incidents tied to this rumored relationship was when Rekha attended Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s wedding wearing sindoor (vermilion), a symbol of marriage in Indian culture.
This move allegedly stole the spotlight from the bride and groom and was seen as Rekha’s subtle declaration of her bond with Big B.
Jaya Bachchan’s Bold Stand
Film historian Hanif Zaveri had earlier shared another key moment in the alleged love triangle. On a podcast, he said that Jaya once invited Rekha for lunch while Amitabh was away shooting.
Reportedly, during that meeting, Jaya made her stance very clear by saying:
“Dekho, Amitabh mera tha, mera hai, aur mera hi rahega.”
(“Look, Amitabh was mine, is mine, and will always be mine.”)

- Rekha married Delhi-based businessman Mukesh Agarwal in 1990, but he tragically died by suicide within months of their marriage.
- Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan have remained together since their marriage in 1973. They are parents to actor Abhishek Bachchan and entrepreneur Shweta Bachchan.
