Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan Mumbai Shoot Shelved, Sets Demolished

Salman Khan’s new film, Battle of Galwan, based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict, has postponed its Mumbai schedule.

Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film Battle of Galwan, inspired by the 2020 conflict between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley, has seen a slight change in its shooting schedule. The Mumbai shoot, originally planned for this month, has been postponed, and the sets constructed at Mehboob Studios in Bandra are being taken down.

Battle of Galwan Mumbai shoot cancelled

An insider revealed to Mid-Day that the decision to postpone the Mumbai shoot was driven by creative considerations. The production is now slated to resume in Ladakh from August 22 to September 3, focusing primarily on the action sequences.

The source explained that since Salman Khan sports a unique look for the film, filming with a 30-day gap between locations would affect continuity. “Apoorva (Lakhia) felt that the sequences would need to be shot in succession. So, for now, the film’s Mumbai schedule is postponed indefinitely. They will take a call in the last leg whether a song sequence or patch work needs to be done in the city,” the report added.

No official hurdles with the Defence Ministry

Contrary to circulating rumours about possible issues with the Ministry of Defence over the film’s sensitive subject, a reliable source clarified that the project is proceeding with full permissions. The film is intended to honour the courage of Indian soldiers and does not portray any nation negatively.

“The makers wouldn’t have announced the film without permissions in place,” the source confirmed, as reported by Mid-Day

The cast

Battle of Galwan also marks a fresh collaboration between Salman Khan and actress Chitrangda Singh. The cast boasts talents including Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia, Harshil Shah, Heera Sohall, Abhilash Chaudhary, and Vipin Bhardwaj.

About the film

Battle of Galwan is based on true events from June 2020, when Indian and Chinese soldiers fought in the remote, high-altitude Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Although there were agreements that banned the use of guns, the clash became one of the deadliest border fights in over 40 years. Despite the tough conditions, the Indian Army showed great bravery, fighting hand-to-hand using simple weapons like stones and sticks.

Salman Khan’s physical transformation for the film

Salman Khan had earlier opened up about how demanding the project has been. “It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I have to give more time now. Earlier, I would manage it in one or two weeks, but now I’m running, kicking, punching, and doing all that stuff. This film demands that. For instance, in Sikandar, the action was different, the character was different. But this is physically difficult—especially shooting in Ladakh, at high altitudes and in cold water,” he said

Salman also revealed what lies ahead in the shoot schedule. “I have 20 days in Ladakh and then seven to eight days in cold water. We will be shooting this month,” he added.

His workout sessions go beyond typical weight training and runs. Salman also trains in a high-pressure chamber at his gym — designed to simulate the altitude of Leh and help his body adjust in advance. In addition, junk food and fizzy drinks are off the menu.

Recently, the motion poster of Battle of Galwan was unveiled on social media. It shows Salman Khan with bloodstains on his face and his signature moustache, hinting at a raw, emotional portrayal of patriotism and sacrifice. The visuals promise a gripping war drama set over 15,000 feet above sea level.
