Sunjay Kapur’s mother says she was forced to sign papers and kept in the dark about key decisions just weeks after his death.
A major dispute has erupted within the family of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, just ahead of an important annual general meeting of Sona Comstar, the flagship company of the Sona Group.
In a strongly worded letter to the board, Rani Kapur, mother of the deceased and majority shareholder of the group, has made serious allegations of being:
- Forced to sign documents under duress and behind locked doors
- Denied access to her own financial accounts
- Cut off from key decisions regarding the future of the company
🧾 The Letter: Claims of Coercion and Exclusion
According to reports from a reliable news agency, Rani Kapur wrote:
“Despite being under immense mental and emotional distress, I was coerced into signing such documents behind locked doors… I have been totally denied access to my accounts and left to the mercy of a select few for survival.”
She questioned attempts to appoint “certain individuals” to the company board, claiming that these decisions were made without her knowledge or consent.
👤 Sources Point to Priya Sachdev Kapur
Sources have revealed that the “certain individuals” referenced in the letter may include Priya Sachdev Kapur, wife of the late Sunjay Kapur and daughter-in-law to Rani Kapur. She was reportedly slated to be appointed as a non-executive director at the AGM.
Rani Kapur claims these appointments were based on documents she was forced to sign and insists she has not officially nominated anyone to represent her or the Kapur family on the board.
📅 Call for AGM Postponement
The letter demands that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for 1 PM be postponed by two weeks, citing her legal and moral right to participate in crucial decisions.
“It is imperative that no decisions are taken without my consent,” she emphasized.
⚖️ Claims of “Gross Illegalities”
Ms Kapur also mentioned being tipped off by well-wishers about possible illegal actions being taken within the group in her absence.
“At this stage I do not wish to dilate any further on various gross illegalities… but I am disturbed,” she wrote.
The Sona Comstar board has not yet issued an official statement in response to the letter.
