Vivek Agnihotri’s SHOCKING Take on Saif Ali Khan’s Son Taimur: “Nobody Should Name Their Child Taimur!”

After ‘The Bengal Files’ trailer sparks controversy, Agnihotri explains his historical stance and clears air on the jibe against Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Vivek Agnihotri Responds to Taimur Name Controversy

Vivek Agnihotri’s recent film The Bengal Files created a stir when the trailer showed a child named Taimur, leading to speculation that the filmmaker was taking a dig at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor for naming their son Taimur.

Agnihotri’s Clarification on the Controversy

During his appearance on The Raunac Show, Agnihotri denied any personal jibe against the actor Saif Ali Khan. However, he strongly expressed that naming a child Taimur should be reconsidered.

“Many people are named Taimur, Saif wasn’t the first. When I shot The Tashkent Files in Samarkand, I visited Taimur’s tomb. It’s written there he conquered the richest sultanate, but he refused the emperor’s title until conquering Delhi,” Agnihotri said.

“He massacred one lakh people in one night and went on a brutal killing spree from Delhi to Kashmir. Though a hero in his country, he’s not a hero for us. Nobody should name their child Taimur. It’s not even a question.”

The Backlash Saif Ali Khan Faced in 2016

When Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor announced their son’s name in 2016, it invited severe public backlash. Saif even admitted to considering a name change due to the negative reactions:

“I thought about changing his name for a couple of weeks, but Kareena convinced me otherwise,” he told Delhi Times.

Kareena Kapoor Opens Up on the Controversy

Last year, Kareena Kapoor reflected on the situation in an interview with Miss Malini:

“It affected me that people talked about Taimur’s name so much. He doesn’t know about the drama yet but has received lots of love too. He’s starting to understand that there’s a culture where people follow and click pictures of him.”

About The Bengal Files

The Bengal Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, is a gripping tale based on the 1946 Bengal riots. Featuring a star-studded cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi, the film dives deep into one of India’s most turbulent historical chapters.

The debate around the name Taimur is far from over, but Vivek Agnihotri’s bold historical perspective adds a new dimension to the conversation. As The Bengal Files hits the screens, audiences will watch closely not just for the story, but also for the controversies it sparks. Whether you agree or disagree, this discussion highlights how deeply history and popular culture often collide in India today.
