  • The mortal remains of Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg began the last journey home from Guwahati airport towards his residence in Kahilipara early Sunday morning.
  • Thousands of mourners lined the 25‑km route, showering the ambulance with flowers and holding up banners, cut‑outs, and the traditional Assamese gamosa inscribed with “Z G Forever.”

Emotional Moments at the Airport

  • As the body arrived from Delhi, his wife Garima Saikia Garg offered floral tributes and placed a gamosa on the coffin. She was visibly emotional.
  • The casket was then placed inside a flower‑decked ambulance, escorted through the VIP exit of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Police and senior officials cleared the way.

Public Homage Arrangements

  • The remains will stay at Zubeen Garg’s Kahilipara residence for about 1.5 hours for close family tributes before being moved to Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (Sarusajai Stadium) for public homage.
