In a fiery speech in Florida, Pakistan’s military leader warns of “taking half the world down” in a future conflict with India, while threatening to destroy Indus water projects.
Nuclear War Warning from American Soil
Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, has sparked global concern with an unprecedented nuclear threat delivered during an event in Tampa, Florida.
According to reports, Munir declared:
“We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us.”
This marks the first known instance of a nuclear threat issued from US soil against another country. The remarks came at a private dinner hosted by businessman Adnan Asad, honorary consul for Tampa.
Threats Over the Indus Waters Treaty
Munir also targeted India’s infrastructure projects on the Indus River system, warning of missile strikes if New Delhi proceeds:
- Claimed India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty after the Pahalgam terror attack could threaten 250 million Pakistanis with starvation.
- Vowed to destroy any new Indian dams with “ten missiles.”
- Asserted Pakistan has no shortage of missiles and the Indus “is not the Indians’ family property.”

During the Florida speech, Munir also:
- Criticized India for not revealing its losses during a recent four-day war with Pakistan.
- Quoted Surah Al-Fil from the Quran to signal potential future strikes on India’s eastern economic hubs.
- Compared India to a “Mercedes” and Pakistan to a “dump truck full of gravel,” suggesting that if the truck crashes into the car, both would suffer.
- Suggested that politics is too serious to be left to politicians, hinting at military involvement in governance and fueling speculation about a presidential bid.
High-Profile Audience and Secrecy
The event, attended by around 120 Pakistani-origin residents of Florida, reportedly barred cellphones and recording devices. A representative of the Israel Defence Forces was also present. This was Munir’s second US visit in two months, following a June luncheon at the White House with then-President Trump.
