Tri-service mission that struck nine terror camps in Pakistan to be discussed in a 16-hour special session
PM Modi to Speak on Operation Sindoor in Rajya Sabha
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Rajya Sabha on July 29 regarding Operation Sindoor, India’s military retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people in Jammu & Kashmir.
The opposition had been demanding an official statement on the tri-service military mission, which targeted nine terror camps and bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7.
Why the Debate Was Delayed
The opposition initially pushed for the debate this week. However, the government scheduled a 16-hour discussion for the following week, citing the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to London to finalize a multi-crore free trade agreement with the UK.
If the opposition refused the revised schedule, they risked not hearing directly from PM Modi about the mission.
What Was Operation Sindoor?
- A tri-service military strike involving the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force
- Targeted nine major terror camps in Pakistan & PoK
- Conducted in response to the Pahalgam terror attack
- Triggered Pakistani missile & drone attacks on Indian military bases and civilian areas
- Culminated in a ceasefire negotiated directly between New Delhi and Islamabad
Key Issues to Be Discussed in the Debate
The debate will focus on:
✅ The Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians
✅ Operation Sindoor’s success & aftermath
✅ Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes
✅ The eventual ceasefire and international diplomatic reactions
✅ Controversy over Donald Trump’s claims of mediating the ceasefire, despite India clarifying it was a direct negotiation with Pakistan
PM Modi Hails Operation Sindoor as a ‘Vijay Utsav’
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi described Operation Sindoor as a ‘vijay utsav’ (victory celebration), highlighting it as a testament to the strength, precision, and coordination of India’s armed forces.
